What is Pornography in Biblical Terms?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pornography is the visual or written depiction of sexual activity or nudity intended to arouse lust. Uncleanness and Impurity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paul often warns against \u201cuncleanness,\u201d which includes sexual impurity of mind and body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ephesians 5:3<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cBut fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.\u201d<br><strong>Colossians 3:5<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cMortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pornography falls under <strong>uncleanness<\/strong> and <strong>evil concupiscence<\/strong> (lustful desire).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Masturbation \u2014 Direct or Indirect Biblical Teaching<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bible does not name masturbation directly. The only passage some use is <strong>Genesis 38:9-10<\/strong>, where Onan \u201cspilled it on the ground,\u201d but this was about refusing to fulfill Levirate marriage duty \u2014 not solitary sexual activity itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, masturbation tied to porn or lust is still condemned by the principle of <strong>heart adultery<\/strong> in Matthew 5:28. The problem is not only the physical act but the <em>thoughts and images<\/em> driving it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6. God\u2019s Call to Holiness<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The believer\u2019s body and mind are for God\u2019s glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1 Corinthians 6:18-20<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cFlee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost\u2026 ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watching porn or lusting in thought <strong>uses the body and mind against their God-given purpose<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>8.
