False religion is born when men replace God\u2019s truth with human tradition, form without faith, and rituals without repentance. But true faith is born from a heart transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ\u2014submitting to His lordship, seeking His will, and living in obedience to His Word. It manifests in holiness, love, and biblically grounded practices such as evangelism, fellowship, communion, and care for the vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many people are religious<\/em>\u2014yet the Bible warns that not all religion pleases God. In fact, Jesus rebuked the religious elite of His day for honoring God outwardly while their hearts were far from Him:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.\u201d<\/strong>

\n\n\n\n

1. False Religion: Belief Without Truth<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Belief, in itself, is not virtuous\u2014it depends on what or whom<\/em> we believe in. False religion arises when belief is placed in anything other than<\/em> the true and living God as revealed in Scripture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cProfessing themselves to be wise, they became fools… Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator.\u201d<\/strong>

Even demons believe in God\u2019s existence (James 2:19), but that belief does not save\u2014they do not trust, love, or obey Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

False religion often has the appearance of wisdom, but it lacks power:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhich things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility\u2026 but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.\u201d<\/strong>

2. True Faith: Trust in Jesus as Lord and Saviour<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Biblical faith is not mere belief\u2014it is saving trust<\/strong> in Jesus Christ: crucified, risen, and exalted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cThat if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 Romans 10:9<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cNeither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven… whereby we must be saved.\u201d<\/strong>

This faith is not a vague spirituality. It is faith in the historical, risen Jesus\u2014the only way to the Father (John 14:6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Faith That Transforms: A Life of Obedience<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

True faith leads to repentance and a changed life. It produces obedience, not perfection\u2014but a growing desire to walk in God\u2019s ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf ye love me, keep my commandments.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 John 14:15<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cAnd hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 1 John 2:3<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Faith that does not produce action is dead:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEven so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.\u201d<\/strong>

\n\n\n\n

4. The Fruit of Faith: Biblical Practices<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When Christ reigns in the heart, a person naturally desires to obey His Word and participate in the life and mission of the Church. These biblical practices are not means of salvation<\/em>, but evidences of salvation<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

a. Evangelism \u2013 The Great Commission<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\n

\u201cGo ye therefore, and teach all nations… teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.\u201d<\/strong>

b. Fellowship \u2013 Gathering with the Saints<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\n

\u201cNot forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is…\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 Hebrews 10:25<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

c. Communion \u2013 Remembering the Lord\u2019s Death<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\n

\u201cThis do in remembrance of me… For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.\u201d<\/strong>

d. True Religion \u2013 Love for the Vulnerable<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
\n

\u201cPure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 James 1:27<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

5. Beware of Religion Without Christ<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Just as in Jesus\u2019 day, many still follow \u201creligious tradition\u201d while ignoring God\u2019s Word. Jesus warned:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFull well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.\u201d<\/strong>
\u2014 Mark 7:9<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Religion is dangerous when it replaces Christ with customs, and substitutes outward show for inward change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion: Examine Your Faith<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Not all who appear religious are right with God. Jesus said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven… Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord… and then will I profess unto them, I never knew you…\u201d<\/strong>

True faith begins with the heart\u2014broken over sin, believing the gospel, and surrendering to Christ. It continues with a life that seeks God\u2019s glory, walks in obedience, and reflects His love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
